Always make sure that you buy bigger toys rather than smaller ones. Toys will last longer if your dog cant get the entire toy in his mouth. Just because your dog destroys stuffies and toys with squeakers doesnt mean he doesnt like them. On the contrary. He probably really loves them a lot. Unfortunately, you probably dont enjoy buying them so your dog can rip them apart in a few seconds. Do consider sewing them back up for your dog. He wont mind. You can also buy second hand stuffed animals at your local Goodwill for less than a dollar.
In addition, I recommend a toy that mentally challenges your dog. There are tons of new dog toy puzzles available where your dog gets one toy that is full of smaller toys and has to figure out how to get them out. Another favorite are the rubber toys that hold either food or treats inside and your dog has to work to get the food out. All of these offer excellent stimulation and a break for you. Chew Bones Offer both an activity and a way for you and your dog to unwind. With multiple variations of pressed bones, rawhide bones, rubber bones, dental bones and many others, you are sure to find one that is your dogs favorite.
If you have a pooch who refuses to chew on any type of hard or medium type of dog toy, you are not alone. Theres a ton of finicky dogs out there who just dont find any sort of chewing satisfaction in chewing on hard chew toys they just dont like the way these type of toys feel on their teeth and gums. But, whats the alternative besides those cheapo, ripemapartinasecond stuffed animals?
Puzzle toys keep dogs busy and are a great way to bond with your dog. The Hide A Squirrel by Kyjen Pet Products is the most popular of these dog toys. The Hide A Squirrel is a plush stump with 3 little squirrels that fit in the holes in the stump. You put them in and your dog takes them out. The little squirrels are favorite toys of many dogs because they have a squeaker in the middle and are easy to carry around and squeak. If youre a dog owner then you have probably had the pleasure of buying toys for your dog. Its fun to pick out a great new toy and bring it home.
However, some toys do claim to be indestructible. Thats a matter of opinion. The venerable Kong toys, which come in lots of different sizes and styles, are virtually indestructible, but even these hard rubber toys can be beaten by some dogs. If you give a small Kong to a large dog with strong jaws who is intent on chewing it to pieces, the Kong can, in fact, be torn. It may take a long time, but it can happen. However, your dog will probably more than get your moneys worth out of the toy. If you buy a large, appropriatelysized Kong for a large dog then your dog will probably not be able to destroy it.
