Bertha Hansen. Dog Houses. February 18th , 2018.
Now you have your dog house. But where should you put it? The placement of dog houses should be less about where it looks good and more about where he will like it. Most dogs will not use a poorlyplaced dog house unless the weather is horrible. Try to face dog houses where they get the most sun in cold climates and the least sun in warm climates, where there is not a lot of wind, and where your dog can keep an eye on you and your property. If he doesnt want to go in his house after a few weeks, try simply rotating the dog house or move it to a new location.
When you install the dog house you also need to make sure that you keep the house elevated from the ground. This will help you to keep the ground dry. You must also pay a great amount of attention to the kind of material used for building the house. The house must be able to bear the conditions like rainfall and snowfall. You can even go for the outdoor dog kennel if you want. You must also make sure that you can remove the roof of the house so that you can clean the house properly. So start building dog house now.
Besides wooden houses, several uniquedesigned dog house are available in the market too. Precision also provides log houses with slight slanting roofs, a change to the routine flat roofs. Iglooshaped dog houses are much convenient to clean and maintain too. Improvements and Petmate among others make such homes too. Completely portable dog houses are those provided by Petmate. It resembles a human tent and is made up of heavyduty polyester and has nylon zipper. Usually can be set up within minutes, it is a very convenient mobile dog house.
Finally, if you live in an area of extreme hot or cold, you may consider a heated or airconditioned house for your dog, but I would recommend checking with your vet first. You should also provide bedding inside your dogs house. Old towels, blankets, or sheets make good bedding. In wintertime, put a thick folded layer down for insulation from the cold ground, then put more bedding on top. In summertime, put just enough bedding in so your dog can choose to lie on the cool floor of his dog house or on the bedding.
For those living in climates that are not extreme either summer or winter, your dog will probably do well in a house appropriate for all seasons. Even when its the rainy season, many dog houses have easy to attach doors that can be removed when not needed. But, for the more extreme climates, insulated houses work the best for retaining warmth in the winter and providing a cooler interior during hot summer days. Additionally, if your dog need more climate control, most doghouses can hooked up with a combination heater/air conditioning unit.
