First, make sure you have a good assortment of toys for them to enjoy. They will get bored with the same one or two toys every day so only give them one or two each day and rotate the toys out to keep them interested. Make sure you choose quality toys for your dog to both prevent unnecessary choking hazards and to ensure that they are long lasting. Many people give their dogs old socks or other household items to play with. This is a common mistake, which only confuses your dog and causes you grief later.
They are made of inferior quality materials and they never last. They also often pose potential dangers such as choking hazards because they tend to fall apart easily. Besides, a toy that doesnt last long is just a waste of your time and money and a disappointment to your dog. If you are picking out a dog toy for smaller dogs or a growing puppy, make sure to choose a toy that is soft and easier to chew and of course in the smaller category. Do not buy toys that have small pieces that could come loose or break off. Again, these are choking hazards and remember, puppies are big chewers.
For example, if you give them an old sock or maybe an old tshirt to chew on, they will naturally think that every sock they find in your house is fair game to play with. You should also make sure your dog has a specific spot to keep their dog toys. Use a basket or plastic tub that they have easy access to and this will help your dog to understand which toys belong to them. With so many dog toys to choose from, what are some of the more stimulating and boredom buster toys available?
As many small dog owners can tell you, some small dogs have an extremely powerful jaw and so you will need to compensate for that by purchasing a little bit bigger dog toy for them than their size would indicate. Otherwise, they will obliterate a toy that does not suite their needs. If you have any experience with a dog and their dog toys, you will know that most dogs tend to have one particular toy that they favor. Let me just say, if this is the case at your house, go buy three more just like it and put them away for future use.
If you have a pooch who refuses to chew on any type of hard or medium type of dog toy, you are not alone. Theres a ton of finicky dogs out there who just dont find any sort of chewing satisfaction in chewing on hard chew toys they just dont like the way these type of toys feel on their teeth and gums. But, whats the alternative besides those cheapo, ripemapartinasecond stuffed animals?
