Elvira Donovan. Dog Beds. January 21st , 2018.
When you find that your dog is constantly getting on the sofa and making a mess with all the dog hair, its definitely time to invest in a large dog bed. These days you can get large dog beds that look like real furniture so they dont look out of place in your home. Larger breeds need extra cushioning as they are prone to Arthritis and Hip Dysplasia, therefore sleeping on the floor isnt really an option with a large dog. When buying a large dog bed, you need to think about how your dog sleeps. Does he curl up or spread out, possibly a little of both depending on the weather and other factors.
Dog beds are a luxury for some dogs and a necessity for other dogs. The neat thing about dog beds is that they come in so many varieties that you can find one to fit any dog, and size, any décor or any location. The key to finding a good dog bed for your dog is understanding what is out there. Does your dog needs a dog bed that is elevated off of the floor, does your dog need a dog be that is extremely soft or possibly a bit firm? These are the types of questions you should be asking yourself before going shopping for a dog bed.
Even with a full grown animal, be sure to get a bed big enough that he or she will have room to stretch and wont feel too crowded. If you get a dog bed thats a bit on the small side, your dog may not use it. Also take note of the height of dog beds. You dont want to select a bed that is too high for your small dog. A raised bed, however, may help keep your dog warm if your house is drafty. Shape is another consideration. Dog beds come in several different shapes and looks. There are round ones, square ones, beds that look like little couches, dog beds with no sides, and beds that have raised sides all the way around.
For example, some companies have designed pet beds that are covered with materials that look and feel like animal fur or, are even shaped like an animal with a nesting spot in the middle. Most dogs will feel very drawn to this type of bed, because if you think about it dogs in the wild were used to snuggling up with their fur covered pack family for warmth, companionship and the feeling of security. Small dogs and puppies will like the feeling a fauxfurtype bed gives them. But even some bigger pooches will respond to the call of the wild.
If your dogs bed is going to be in your living room or bedroom, you may want to select a bed that doesnt clash with your established color schemes or overall room design. There are several other options for your dog bed. Some are heated. Some can be monogrammed or embroidered with your dog s name. Others are waterproof. The best thing to do before going shopping is to make a list of everything you want for your dog s bed. Once you get to the store, you can then cut down the list until you find a bed that fits your budget.
