Petra Hines. Dog Toys. February 19th , 2018.
All dogs, no matter what breed or age, will need some form of toys because just as humans get bored easily so do canines. Although we may think that dog toys are not that important to your dogs they are a major part of their lives. Dog toys are a great way to encourage positive play and will bring you closer with your dog. Toys are great to stop your dog from being bored when you are not in the house and hopefully will stop them being destructive. It is an idea to have several different toys for your canine; this will stop them being bored as they are able to select different toys.
As many small dog owners can tell you, some small dogs have an extremely powerful jaw and so you will need to compensate for that by purchasing a little bit bigger dog toy for them than their size would indicate. Otherwise, they will obliterate a toy that does not suite their needs. If you have any experience with a dog and their dog toys, you will know that most dogs tend to have one particular toy that they favor. Let me just say, if this is the case at your house, go buy three more just like it and put them away for future use.
Whats not fun is watching your dog destroy it in 30 seconds. There are lots of toys that claim to be indestructible but are there really indestructible dog toys? It depends. First of all, its just a fact that some dogs are tougher on toys than others. Some dogs will love and cherish their toys, carry them around and even sleep with them. They would never dream of ripping the head off their favorite toy. On the other hand, there are some dogs who love nothing more than seeing how fast they can remove the face from any stuffed animal you offer them.
Remember a dog should have a variety of textures and sounds in their toy box. Please give your dog new toys when you have the time to observe them with their toys. Make sure that your dogs toys are safe for their playing style. Happy dog toy shopping. When asked what are the MUST HAVE toys a dog should have, we answer that it all depends. Dogs come in all sizes and with different playing styles, so we cannot to come up with onesizefitsall list. However, recently a customer said that they were getting a 2 year old, medium size rescue dog.
Dont forget to choose some outdoor toys too. I make the distinction of outdoor and indoor toys at my house because we live on a farm/ranch and the dogs like to play with tennis balls, golf balls and other flying projectiles that I dont necessarily allow in the house. LOL. I do allow tennis balls in but only clean ones. Truthfully, its not necessarily the dogs that I worry about breaking stuff as it is as much their dad. As I said, the golf balls stay outside...
