These chew toys come in various sizes for different sizes of canines, but also come in different degrees of toughness so you can adjust for the destructiveness of your dogs chewing ability. Dog Toys Stimulate Your pets Mind As Well As His Teeth. These toys all have one trait in common: they can reward your dog as the task is completed. This provides mentally stimulating play for your dog, which can help keep them from being bored, and a contented, tired pet is less likely to destroy everything you own by chewing it.
All dogs, no matter what breed or age, will need some form of toys because just as humans get bored easily so do canines. Although we may think that dog toys are not that important to your dogs they are a major part of their lives. Dog toys are a great way to encourage positive play and will bring you closer with your dog. Toys are great to stop your dog from being bored when you are not in the house and hopefully will stop them being destructive. It is an idea to have several different toys for your canine; this will stop them being bored as they are able to select different toys.
There are multiple dog toy choices available now and some of the newer puzzle toys are just the stimulus your dog needs to keep busy and out of trouble. Unfortunately if you do not supply your dog with toys to both fill their day with constructive activities and satisfy their need to chew, they will likely find your favorite pair of shoes and create their own chew toy. This leads to the next question of how do you supply your dog with appropriate dog toys to suit their needs.
Start by using your dogs size to determine your dogs toy choice selection. The dog toy must be designed for your dogs size needs. Choosing a dog toy that is designed for a German Shepherd for your small Poodle or viceversa is not a viable option. The small dog would not be able to handle the larger toy and the larger dog could potentially choke on the smaller toy. Next, take into account what materials the dog toy is constructed out of. This directly impacts the quality of the toy. Choosing a cheap dog toy is never a good idea.
An example is a plastic cube with treats inside which the dog must find a way to get out of the cube. The cube is also adjustable, so as your dog figures out how to get the treats out, you can make it harder so he wont get bored. Another example of this type of dog toys is a rubber ball that helps clean your pets teeth when he plays with it. Your dog bites the slits in the ball. His teeth sink into the grooves. The grooves stimulate the gums and clean the teeth, and dispense treats or kibble for your pet.
